Non-Sale of Liquor
A temporary liquor permit is not required when alcoholic beverages are provided to guests at no charge, as with an "open bar" or "BYOB".

Sale of Liquor
A temporary liquor permit is required when the function includes the sale of alcoholic beverages. The word "sale" is defined to include selling a ticket to a function where alcohol will be offered. Temporary liquor permits can be obtained from the Department of Liquor Control, State Office Building, Hartford, Connecticut. A copy of the temporary liquor permit must be submitted to the Conference Center office at least seven business days prior to the event, and an additional copy must be posted at the event..

Insurance
The town requires the renter to have liquor liability insurance for all events where liquor is provided to guests. The renter will be charged an additional premium through the town’s special events policy subject to the approval of the insurance underwriter. For business related events, the renter has the option of providing a liquor liability endorsement to his/her existing commercial general liability policy or purchasing a liquor liability policy.

Insurance requirements are subject to change.
