SPRING
YARD WASTE COLLECTION
May 5-16, 2008
The 2008 Spring Yard Waste Collection program will begin on Monday, May 5th in the Monday refuse collection area and continuing for two weeks through Friday, May 16th. Residents should place their yard waste at the curb by 6 AM on their regular refuse collection day. Only recyclable paper 30-gallon leaf bags will be collected. Click here for a list of suppliers.
Yard waste includes leaves, pine needles, pine cones, acorns, twigs, dead plant matter from last year’s annuals and perennials and thatch. It does not include: soil, rocks, branches or grass clippings. Yard waste bags contaminated with these items will not be collected. Branches up to 4 inches in diameter may be cut up and placed in your automated barrel and placed at the curb on your refuse collection day (the lid may be open up to 45 degrees).
Residents can bring plastic bags with yard waste to the Recycling Center at 25 Brixton Street, and empty the contents out in the designated area. Plastic bags are not recyclable. Dispose of them at home. Beginning April 1st, the Recycling Center’s hours will be Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM until 4:00 PM and Saturday’s from 8 AM until 2 pm.
