Holcomb Farm offers drop off points in West Hartford
Holcomb Farm CSA in Granby, CT, grows vegetables, berries, flowers, and herbs for our members. The CSA concept is simple: members pay in advance for a portion of the farm's harvest, directly supporting the farm's operating costs, and in return they receive an array of freshly harvested, chemical-free produce once per week, June-October.
Holcomb Farm CSA uses no chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. We use sustainable growing techniques such as crop rotations, plant and mineral based fertilizers, and compost to build ealthy productive soils. In addition, we use non-toxic biological and botanical pest controls. By joining the farm, you directly support environmentally sound farming practices that help protect wildlife, clean air and water, and your health!
Holcomb Farm CSA is a non-profit organization. In addition to our household memberships, we also distribute a large portion of our harvest (last year about about 46,000 pounds) to local social service agencies and emergency food outlets.
We grow over 100 varieties of 35 different crops. The exact availability is impossible to predict due to the ups and downs of the growing season, but we do our best to supply an abundant variety. Here's a sample of what's in a share overe the course of the season:
June: salad greens, radishes, salad turnips, kohlrabi, scallions, arugula, collards
August: potatoes, tomatoes, watermelon, peppers, summer squash, carrots, garlic, lettuce
October: pumpkins, sweet potatoes, parsnips, turnips, leeks, winter squash, onions
In addition to the harvested share, we offer Pick-Your-Own crops, included in the membership. These include strawberries, raspberries, cut flowers, herbs, green beans, peas, hot peppers, cherry tomatoes, tomatillos, edamame, and hot peppers.
We welcome and encourage members to visit the anytime during daylight hours and to volunteer. We offer a variety of opportunities to support the farm and see up close how your food is grown.
We offer a variety of memberships to anyone interested in good, fresh food from a local farm.
For those in the West Hartford area, we deliver pre-boxed shares delivered to a drop off point on Willowbrook Road every week on Tuesdays, 4-7pm.
