Conservation Challenge

Congratulations to the 2012 Conservation Challenge Winner:

The West Hartford Public Schools (WHPS) Conservation Challenge is an annual competition between our schools to save as much electricity as possible. ALL staff members and students work together to watch their watts each and every day. It’s that easy! The school that reduces its electricity use the most (in %) is awarded the Energy Conservation Trophy.

  • December 3 - December 7, 2012 (Monday - Friday)
This year’s challenge runs for 1 WEEK ONLY.

  • 3% reduction in electric use (kWh)

  • November 12 - 16 (M-F), we took meter readings and compiled “baseline” electric use (kWh) for each school. Electric use (kWh) during the week December 3 - 7 (M-F) will be compared to use from the “baseline” period to determine the winner.
  • November 22, we announced the Challenge via email.
  • November 26 - 30, the week leading up the Challenge, we will email the schools to remind them of the competition dates and provide tips about how to save energy.
  • December 3 - 7 (M-F), THE CHALLENGE IS ON. We will continue to send email reminders, take daily meter readings, and track the competition results.
  • December 10 (Monday), the 2012 Conservation Challenge Winner will be announced.
