Public Relations

The Public Relations Office provides a link between the Town of West Hartford and its citizenry through the use of a variety of communication tools to deliver a clear, concise and complete message.

Public awareness campaigns are developed and aimed at clarifying complex issues, changing or reinforcing behavior, offering seasonal reminders, improving the town’s image, and engaging citizens. Public information is carried out through a variety of methods: electronic (Internet and email list serve), cable TV programming, publications, news media, special events, and person-to-person collaboration.

The public relations specialist serves as the Town ‘s webmaster, editor of List Serve email subscriber service, writer of bi-weekly newsletter Council Briefs, project manager of the annual Town Calendar, and coordinator of the Park Road Parade and many other special events. The public relations specialist also manages the event calendar for the outdoor community area at Blue Back Square where concerts and other performances are held.  The public relations specialist helps community organizations organize their road races and charity walks by coordinating town services (police, public works, parking) to support the event.
