The West Hartford Fire Department and the personnel of our department are happy to be of assistance to the citizens of our Town in any way possible.
We have a very simple philosophy of service. Solve the problem, do it safely, and be nice. We take a great deal of pride in the special trust and confidence that you, the citizen, have in us.
We encourage all families to install smoke detectors in their homes and we will assist with the installation if needed. Remember that we are your public service agency and are here to help you.
The West Hartford Fire Department and West Hartford Community Television co-sponsored a Public Service Announcement (PSA) contest in October 2014. West Hartford middle and high school students were challenged to create a 30-second public service announcement on candle safety and fire prevention. Entries were judged by the five fire stations and the winners are:
Judges Choice: How to Handle a Candle, Hall High School Film Making Club
People’s Choice: Rewind, Hall High School Film Making Club
Middle School Award: Candle Safety, Saint Brigid’s School
Click here to view the winning PSAs. The winning productions are also shown on WHC-TV, Comcast Ch. 5, from November 15th through January 15th. Winning teams were presented with a plaque to be hung in the school.
Due to the great response this year, another contest will be held next year with the inclusion of the elementary schools.
