Summer Arts Festival
The Summer Arts Festival (SAF) is a collaborative program between the Town of West Hartford and The West Hartford Board of Education Department. The program allows teenagers and young adults (high school age and older) to participate in a full-length, high-caliber Broadway productions during a six-week period from June through July each summer. The program employs professional designers and directors from the greater Hartford area, who are held to the highest standards set forth by the program’s founder and now Executive Producer, Haig Shahverdian. This year's Artistic Director is Sara Avery who will be directing HAIRSPRAY.
Initial vocal and reading auditions will be held in May and dancers and callbacks will be held in early June. Rehearsals are held five days a week beginning in June. Rehearsals are held only in the evening allowing performers to work summer jobs during the daytime hours. The musicals are held at Hall High School and each year during the last weekend in July.
