MDC Meeting Notice on Mountain Road Water Main Project

Please join the MDC for an informational exchange regarding the work planned for this spring in your neighborhood for the Mountain Road Water Main Replacement Project.
We understand that these actions may impact your daily activities so keeping you informed is an essential component to the success of our work.
We encourage you to attend the meeting to share your comments and ideas, meet the project manager and learn about the work planned in your neighborhood.

Promotions
Six Police Officers will receive their new badges at a promotions ceremony to be held on Friday, March 16, 2012, at 8:15am in the Town Council Chambers (Room 314, Town Hall, 50 South Main Street). Refreshments to follow in Room 400. This event is open to the public.
Sergeant Frank Fallon will be promoted to Lieutenant Sergeant Andrew Schiffer will be promoted to Lieutenant
Officer Eric Rochealeau will be promoted to Sergeant Officer Joseph Creaco will be promoted to Sergeant
Officer Rosario Savastra will be promoted to Detective Officer Emanuele Birritteri will be promoted to Detective
In addition, Merit Awards will be presented to three retirees;
Det. Thomas Ganley Det. Dane Semper Ofc. David Cavedon
Sergeant Frank Fallon has been a member of the department for over 16 years. He has a BA in Political Science and Business Management. He is the Polygraph Technician for the department. He is a firearms instructor, motorcycle Officer and a Field Training Officer.
Sergeant Andrew Schiffer has been a member of the department for over 18 years. He has a BA in Management. He has been a member of the SWAT team. He is currently the commander of the URT/Dive team SCUBA and is involved in the EAP program for the department. He was the American Legion's Police Officer of the Year in 2005.
Officer Eric Rocheleau has been a member of the department for over 13 years. He has been a member of the Community Interaction Team and a K-9 handler with K-9 Kora for the department. He has an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice. In 2008 he was recognized by the West Hartford Exchange Club as their Police Officer of the Year.
Officer Joseph Creaco has been a member of the department for over 7 years. He has been a member of the Community Interaction Team and is also on the SWAT team. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Marketing. He is a highly decorated Officer and was the American Legion's Police Officer of the Year in 2010.
Officer Rosario Savastra has been a member of the department for over 11 years. He has been a K-9 Handler with K-9 Reign and Field Training Officer. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.
Officer Emanuele Birritteri has been a member of the department for over 11 years. He is currently assigned to the Traffic Division as an accident reconstructionist and investigator. He has an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice.
Also effective on this date the following transfers will take place;
Lieutenant Jeffrey Rose will be transferred to the Youth Services Division Lieutenant Jeremy Clark will be transferred to the Special Investigations Division Lieutenant Roger Brancoforte will transferred to the Traffic Division Sergeant Michael Perruccio will be transferred to the Community Interaction Team Sergeant Kevin McCarthy will be transferred to the Detective Division Sergeant Christopher Chappell will be transferred to the Detective Division Detective Robert Magao will be transferred to the Special Investigations Division
Detectives Honored

Det. Dane Semper, Chief Tracey G. Gove, Det. Mark Puglielli
On January 20, 2012, Det. Mark Puglielli and Dane Semper received a United States Attorney’s Award in recognition of their superior efforts in the case of U.S. v. Fredrick Zachs. Mr. Zachs was implicated for harboring his son, Adam, who had been a fugitive from justice for over 20 years. Detectives Puglielli and Semper were instrumental in bringing the investigation to a successful conclusion
Officers of the Year Named
Officer Robert Riccobon was selected as the American Legion’s West Hartford Police Officer of the Year. The American Legion presented Officer Riccobon with this award at a ceremony at the American Legion Hall on Wednesday, May 25, 2011.
Detective Dane Semper was selected as The Exchange Club’s Police Officer of the Year. He was honored at an award ceremony at the American Legion Hall on Wednesday, April 6, 2011.

Laws of Interest:
Car Seat Law - Any person who transports a child six (6) years of age and under and weighing less than sixty (60) pounds, shall provide and require the child to use a child restraint system. Any person who transports a child under one (1)year of age or weighing less than twenty (20) pounds in a motor vehicle on the highways of this state shall provide and require the child to ride rear-facing in a child restraint system.
Free Gun Locks - The West Hartford Police Department has received a shipment of gun locks. These gun locks were provided to agencies across the country through Project ChildSafe and is funded by a $50 million grant from the U.S. Department of Justice. West Hartford residents can pick up a free gun lock at the police station (limit 2 per person).
