Year-Round Leaf & Yard Waste Disposal Options

Residents have the year round availability to dispose of leaves and other yard waste free of charge at the Town of West Hartford Yard Waste & Recycling Center.

Curbside collection of bagged leaves is only offered:

• During our 3 weeks spring yard waste collection program which provides curbside collection one week in each of the months of April, May & June. Typically collection is scheduled the second full week of each month. A schedule of collection weeks will be posted each March.
• During the 10 week Annual Fall Bagged Leaf Collection Program which runs from October through mid December. Collection begins the Monday after Columbus Day.

Leaves delivered to the Yard Waste and Recycling Center must be:

• In 30 gallon biodegradable leaf bags or disposed of in bulk.
• Leaves transported in plastic bags must be emptied and the plastic bags properly disposed of by the resident.

Leaves are a state mandated recyclable item and cannot be placed in your refuse or recycling barrel. When observed barrels containing leaves will not be collected. Leaves placed in your refuse barrel are a violation of State and Town ordinances.
