Telephone Book Recycling

Recycle barrels for the telephone books are now in place.

Every Spring, West Hartford households receive new phone books which creates the dilemma on how best to dispose of the old one.

The average phone book weighs 3 pounds and there are over 20,000 residential properties receiving multiple versions of these books. Proper recycling of phone books facilitates a second generation of products and can save the Town of West Hartford upwards of $10,000 annually in waste disposal fees if kept out of the waste stream.

What do you do with the old phone book?

• Recycle your old phone book, don't throw it away!

• Unfortunately phone books cannot be recycled curbside in your blue recycling barrel.
