Dog Licenses
JUNE IS DOG LICENSING MONTH!
If you have received a postcard in the mail to license your dog please consider mailing in your renewal. Make sure to include a copy of the rabies certificate and a self addressed stamped envelope. There will also be a basket in the Town Clerk's office where you may drop off your postcard, copy of rabies certificate and self addressed stamped envelope to save standing in line. As soon as you license is processed it will be mailed.
If your dog is six months or older, state law requires that you obtain a license in the town where you reside. Licensing renewal time is the month of June, but you can license your dog at any time throughout the year. When you come for your first license, you must bring the rabies vaccination certificate issued by your veterinarian. If you are not sure if the rabies vaccination has expired this link will provide you with an alphabetically listing of all licensed dogs and their rabies expiration date. The metal tag is not an acceptable proof of vaccination. The certificate will usually indicate whether the dog has been spayed or neutered, but if not, you'll need to present a separate certificate issued by your veterinarian.
Current fees are $8.00 for spayed and neutered dogs, and $19.00 for others.
New dog owners should submit the Dog License Form along with payment and a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Per town ordinance, only two dogs are allowed per household. It is not necessary to bring your pet to the Town Clerk's Office when obtaining a dog license. You may reach the Town Clerk's office at (860) 561-7430.
