Must
be a resident of the Town in which the exemption is claimed. |

Must
have served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or the Coast
Guard of the United States 90 days or more during a time of war, or
have a disability rating by the Veterans Administration of 10 percent
or more. |

Veterans
must have been honorably discharged and file the original or certified
copy of their DD214 with the Town Clerk. |

|
World
War II veterans of any nation signator to the United Nations Declaration
of January 1, 1942, who participated in armed conflict, are eligible
for exemption if they have been a U.S. citizen for ten years. |
Filing
Period: Eligibility for exemption must be proved prior to the assessment
date, October 1st.
Please
note: An additional exemption may be provided if a veteran's
income does not exceed $30,500 for a single person or $37,300
for a married couple.
Applications must be submitted to the Assessor every other year between
February 1st and October 1st.
Veterans
with a 100 percent disability rating and an adjusted gross income of less
than $21,000 for a married couple and $18,000 for a single person are
entitled to an additional exemption.
Disabled
veterans who have specifically equipped their vehicles for the purpose
of adapting its use to their disability are eligible for a 50 percent
assessment reduction on their vehicle. Annual filing is required between
October 1st and November 1st.
