Emergency Management
This program provides the advance planning and preparation for any type of natural or man-made disaster that can affect the community. This service includes the coordination of all mitigation, emergency and recovery phase activities through the Fire Department.
The West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District also supports and responds to natural and man-made disasters. The District responds to site investigation as called upon by other emergency service personnel. The Police Department fields a SWAT team and provides two members to the Hartford Bomb Squad. In addition, the Police Chief serves on the regional Incident Management Steering Committee.
