October 16: A Taste of Italy

Come to Elmwood Senior Center at 1:00 p.m. for a delicious Italian meal and entertainment by Bob Mel. The event is co-sponsored by HealthNet. Call 561-8180 for registration information.

October 18: Country Pumpkin Festival

Come on down to Westmoor Park from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for hayrides, marshmallow roasts, pumpkin rolling, country games and pumpkin sales. This event is great fun for the whole family. Call 561-8260 for information.

October 25: Hallapalooza Pumpkin Lighting and Costume Party

Join us from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and light up the outside of Elmwood Community Center. Bring your carved pumpkin (we provide the light) and let’s see how many twinkling jack-o-lanterns we can gather in one place A family costume party with dancing in the auditorium will precede the lighting.The free event is rain or shine – it will take place indoors in the event of rain. Sponsors are Red Robin Restaurant, Hometown Buffet and Mr. Trophy. Call 561-8160 for details.

October 26: Polka Fest

Join in the fun at Elmwood Senior Center’s Polka Fest from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Enjoy a sit-down catered lunch featuring Polish favorites and authentic Polish music with Johnny Prytko’s & “The Good Times Band.” Co-sponsored by Hoffman Summer Wood Community. Call 561-8180 for information.

October 26: Spooky Dive for Sunken Treasure Come to Cornerstone Aquatics Center to dive for sunken treasure in Cornerstone’s spooky lagoon. Sessions are at 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. and include playing water games with our Dive Specialists. All participants receive a
reflective trick-or-treat bag filled with Halloween-themed toys. Call 521-3242.
October 28: Entertainment Showcase

If you are looking for entertainment for your organization’s event or just want to enjoy some of the great talent this area has to offer, come to the Entertainment Showcase in the Town Hall Auditorium from 9:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. for sample performances by 35 different entertainers. The event includes a buffet luncheon. Tickets are $25. Call the West Hartford Senior Center at 561-7583 for details.

October 29: Veterans Skating Rink Halloween Party Join us for a spooky good time on the ice from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Special $3 admission for everyone (skate rentals are available for an additional $4 fee). All children (12 and under) wearing a costume will receive a free small Slush Puppy from the RinkSide Cafe. Call 521-1573.
October 31: A Goblin Gathering Preschool Costume Party

Come to Elmwood Community Center for games, treats, a ghostly project and a story by our resident witch. This event runs from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. and is for children ages 2-5 accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets will be sold only in advance. Call 561-8160.

October 31: Halloween Bingo Party Combine the fun of Halloween with bingo from 12:15 to 2:45 p.m. at the West Hartford Senior Center. There will be one additional free card for all players! Enjoy refreshments and wear a costume if you like – prizes will be awarded. Sponsored by Chatfield/Gables. Call 561-7583 for registration information.
October 31: Happy Halloween Costume Dance with DJ Bernie

West Hartford's Special Needs program is hosting a “Monster Mash” at Elmwood Community Center from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. for high-schoolers and adults with special needs. Come in costume to meet friends old and new. Free refreshments will be offered. (For safety reasons, no masks, please. Face paints, wigs, and silly hats are fine choices!) Tickets are $10 for residents and $11 for non-residents. Call 561-8160 to register.
